Hello friends,
Today we got to learn from a firefighter about what to do if there is a fire in your house or if you are at school. Sparky was there as well. As usual all of my students were wonderful audience members. Back in class we talked about what to do in the event of a fire at home and how important it is to choose a meeting place outside. I send home a safety checklist and directions for how to draw a dalmation dog. We tried this in class and they were quite the artists!
We watched a short video on Discovery Education today called Antarctica Antics...it talked about penguins, predators, and featured quite a few catchy tunes about Antarctica. It is a cold, cold place and it is the continent at the south pole. If you have a globe at home, ask your kindergartener to find it! We also made shape penguins using circles, a triangle, hexagons and half circles. They will be adorning the classroom for a bit and then they will head home.
An announcement was made to wear green tomorrow (Friday)....Celtics!
We have planned a picnic for the AM class. We are going to have snack outside tomorrow. The PM class will do the same, however I am afraid I forgot to remind them about it today. The students are welcome to bring a stuffed friend (teddy bear picnic) in their backpack for the picnic (just their usual snack is fine). We will read a few books outside while snacking.
The last day for kindergarten is the 15th of June. Our field trip to the farm is June 11th. Notices will go home about both of these dates.
